Today I am going you to share another blog related to Content Type. Mainly, content types are a set of columns that are grouped together to serve a specific purpose. For example, I create a content type (group of columns) called « invoice » that I will be able to insert in every list or library that need this type of information.
How to create a new Content Types:
1- Navigate to site settings Using Settings Wheel
2- Select Site Content Types under Web Designer Galleries
3- On Site Content Types Page select ‘Create‘.
4- On the Create new Content Type Page, add a Title and Description of the new Content Type. Select Item Content Type in Parent Content Group and Announcement in Parent Content Types. Add this new Content Type in Custom Content Types group. See the Image below –
5- Once we done the new Content type should look like below –
Adding content types in Announcement Library
1- Navigate to the Announcements Document Library and go to the List Settings Page.
2- Select “Advanced settings” in List Settings.
3- Select “Allow management of content types?” as Yes in the advanced settings page.
4- Once done in List Settings Page under Content Types select “Add from existing site content types” to add your newly added Content
5- Once Added your Document Library should look like below –
