Use Fetch Xml for query in Plug-in

By xrmlabs webmaster on 3/26/2013

Fetch XML is a really handy way of retrieving data from CRM. It is easy to construct complex query and really simple to execute. In this blog article I will explain how you can execute fetch XML query in Dynamic CRM 2011 or CRM online. To start you will first need to download a fetch xml from advanced find and then use the RetrieveMultiple method of the CRM Service to execute the Fetch XML.

First go to Advanced d find and select the entity on which you need to make query

Following is the fetchxml retrieve from Advance Find:

String fetchXml = @"'1.0'?>
'false' mapping='logical' output-format='xml-platform' version='1.0'>
   'contact'>
          'telephone'/>
          'lastname'/> 'firstname'/>
                                  'contactid'/> 'false' attribute='telephone'/>                                 'and'>
                                     'vdbwc1_vip' value='1' operator='eq'/>

 ";

All now that is left is to send a fetch request. This can simply be done by using the following code.

EntityCollection EC = _service.RetrieveMultiple(new FetchExpression(fetchXml));

if (EC != null && EC.Entities != null && EC.Entities.Count >= 1)
{
     foreach (Entity E in EC.Entities)
     {
         Guid entityId = E.Id;
     }
}

Above code shows how RetrieveMultiple method is used to retrieve EntityCollection from fetchxml.
Hope this helps. Happy Coding !!

By xrmlabs webmaster on 3/21/2013

                                              Adrotator in ASP.NET   By the AdRotator   control you can change the look of  your home page . The control is very simple and the wonderful thing is that you  don’t need to write the code in code behind file . A Xml file is needed  for the reference of images which are to be displayed on the home page or anywhere else one more beneficial thing is that you can hyperlink to each image  so a new window is opened  and you can acquire the benefit of advertisement also basically it is meant for the advertisement .Due to the reference of images are written in xml file so it can be easily modified.

SQL Server string to date / datetime conversion:

 String date conversion (Without century (yy)): convert string to datetime

  Convert string to date&time

  Day (Mon) types are nondeterministic conversions:

Query Strings in ASP.NET

By xrmlabs webmaster on 2/21/2013

The Query string is a common way of passing data or "Query Parameter" to a web page. The web page can receive this parameter and react accordingly. A Query string can be a search keyword or a page number or something similar. Query string values are appended to the end of the web page URL. They start with a question mark (?) followed by the query string term (or parameter name) followed by an equal sign (=) and the given parameter’s value. You can add as many query parameters as you like. However the next parameter will be delimited with an ampersand (&). Now lets dive into the code to under stand it much better

Hidden Fields in ASP.NET

By xrmlabs webmaster on 2/18/2013

To preserve the  data during the page post back and page load  hidden fields are used . In ASP.NET it is used by view state . Hidden fields are input fields and  not visible to the user . You can add hidden fields on your page. You can also store the data in these fields but the data is stored in its value property . The information which is stored in the hidden fields can be rendered for a single page . Using the hidden fields the page should be submitted to the server .
